The Gates
Jeff and I visited The Gates, the long-awaited installation by artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude, yesterday afternoon. I imagine Central Park in February is not usually so crowded.
I couldn’t really get into it. Sure, it was neat seeing an endless row of orange frames with shower curtains blowing in the wind. I guess I’m a little too cynical to consider it “art.” Jeff, typically, was more impressed.
I was a little underwhelmed too. And up-close, they looked so cheap. Like they were made with immigrant Wal-Mart labor. $21 Million for this?
