Student Loan paid off

I knew my student loan was getting close to being paid off, so I just logged in to the Direct Loan Servicing page and discovered I only owed $22.88 more. I went ahead and click on the “Make Online Payment” and now I’m free and clear with the government.

I’m lucky that my loan wasn’t that large in the first place (due to scholarships, assistantships, and generous parents who didn’t have to pay as much for my two slacker brothers). I don’t know how I’d have managed to pay back what many of my friends borrowed, especially on my current salary.

And Jeff is now making more of a dent in repaying his law school loans since he moved in (rent-free) with me.

Congratulations–I’m 9 months away from finishing mine off (it only took 10 years!) and I’m pretty excited. Like you, I’m thankful for scholarships and generous parents (and an awesome but college-wasn’t-his-thing brother).

I am not a slacker. I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Plus I worked all through college to pay all of my living expenses.
