Poor Neglected Blog

I haven’t written much here lately because I’ve been too busy with my job and enjoying what little free time I have hanging out with Jeff.

This weekend we spent a lot of time exploring Battery Park City and Tribeca (because I was on-call and needed to stay close to home). On Saturday we visited the new Skyscraper Museum (neat, but too small), checked out the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center, and stumbled upon the Irish Hunger Memorial (I had no clue it was so close by). Battery Park City does not feel like any part of NYC I’ve visited so far — it’s too sterile and suburban; but I bet I’d prefer to live there if I had kids. Still, it’s nice to know that there are some beautiful parks on the river so close by.

After living in New York all my life, including a long stint in one of the more hectic parts of the Village, I have zero regrets about coming to BPC 10+ years ago.

I would hasten however to substitute clean for “sterile” and quiet for (OUCH) “suburban”. I do not require either dirt or noise to feel right at home.
