A Trip to the Dentist
I searched my blog archives today to figure out the last time I’d been to the dentist. Turns out it was three years ago. I can still remember how the new-fangled “sonic tool” they used to get rid of my plaque (instead of the scraper hook) made my jaw sore for a week.
Fortunately my fear of going back to the dentist was finally trumped by the thought of having to pay in to my health plan and not using it. But I was convinced, like Mike recently was, that my teeth would be “like swiss cheese.”
So today I went to the dental mill around the corner, was rushed through the x-ray/cleaning/inspection assembly line, and unbelievably was pronounced cavity free.
They didn’t use the dreaded “sonic tool,” but they did have a really cool filmless x-ray system, which scans the images right into a computer which the dentist uses to enlarge and manipulate the images.
oh god! Not Metropolitan on Broadway and… park or something? I went there for two years and i hated the atmosphere. They used the sonic tool for me, and yeah they use digital xray cameras rather than film.
