Farewell to NYC

Farewell to NYC

It’s hard to believe — as I type this from my parents’ house in rural Tennessee — that I was rolling back into my NYC apartment this morning at 5:30am. Last night, I watched Kiki and Herb at the Bowery Ballroom with a bunch of folks, then went to The Duplex with Mike, Dan, and Jaye, and later for an omelet at the Waverly Restaurant. After a few hours sleep, I finished up some work in my office and then jetted out to Newark to catch my flight to Chattanooga (following a similar, though slightly less convoluted, travel itinerary to Aaron’s).

I miss New York City already.

Speaking of Kiki and Herb… I have to admit they were a little bit of a let down. I’ve heard stories about the amazing backstory these two performers have created for their characters, but there were only momentary glimpes of it during this Christmas special (which had to be one of the most sacrilegious events I’ve ever witnessed). Put that together with my recent visit to see Jackie Hoffman’s Hanukkah, and I’ve been a bad little Christian boy this year. Maybe I should try to going to temple with Jeff…

Glad you made it there safely!

As for going to temple… you might have to wait a long time before my next visit, but in the meantime, I’ll let you spin my dreidel.

I’ll let you spin my dreidel.

Well, now there’s a euphemism I hadn’t heard before.

Singing the Dreidel Song reminds me of childhood holiday joys. That is until I read this. I haven’t been able to sing or hear the song this Hanukkah without bursting out in laughter.

Oh – dreidel, dreidel, dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it’s dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!

My dreidel’s always playful
It loves to dance and spin
A happy game of dreidel
Come play now, let’s begin!

Hope you’re enjoying the holidays in Tennessee!

I am sitting here at work @ 3:53 in the friggin morning going out of my mind. Waiting for that damn kid to relieve me. Not like helping me urinate, but relieving me from my shift. Jeezus. I guess we choose our careers right? I mean I do want to work in this post production house and I do want to be a film sound mixer one day..right?

Who knows at this point, I just want to sleep.

But with this time I have here at work, it still amazes me how many things one can come across on the internet. Take this blog for instance. Some Jewish guy from New York letting complete strangers into his life… I mean, I guess I do get it, because if I had any time at all, I guess, I would put together my own website…What was it again…something colossus.com. I’ll figure it out someday. But until then, I will have the headaches I am currently experiencing trying to hack into my Tivo combo unit.

Damn you kernel! I will succeed and I will have an upgraded tivo with a larger drive with a hacked dss card….I will!

Sleep, come back to me and give me a kiss on my cheek….sigh.

Where the f is that kid?

Los Angeles…the city of angels.
