Avenue Q Cast Recording

Avenue Q Cast Recording

I’m totally digging the new Avenue Q cast recording. Not only are the lyrics wicked and the score bouncey, it’s a great souvenir from the first show I saw on Broadway after moving here. As a longtime cast recording collector, it was great to finally to see a show with the original cast who recorded the show.

But Broadway musicals can be expensive (even with the TKTS booth), so I’m keeping my eyes open for alternatives. I’m looking forward to this community theatre production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood (they’re also doing Merrily We Roll Along in the Spring). And I’m going to put my name in for the $25 front row ticket lottery at Wicked tonight (Update: nope, didn’t get a ticket).

I just downloaded it on iTunes… I’ll be humming “if you were gay” all night long. What a great show/soundtrack.

I heard the last part of a review of the show on “All Things Considered” tonight, including “There’s a Fine, Fine Line.” What a captivating sounding musical! I never buy soundtracks before seeing a show, but I think I’ll have to make an exception in this case.
