5000 Fingers of Dr. T. Thanks to NetFlix, I watched this little known, live-action Dr. Seuss film for the first time since seeing it one afternoon in 5th grade on a 16mm reel-to-reel projector as a reward in my afterschool reading program (yes, I was a library geek even in elementary school).

But it left a lasting impression on me. And now that I’ve rewatched it, I realize it’s probably one of the queerest childrens films I’ve ever seen — no wonder I loved it (even as a 5th grader).

And I never picked up on the reference to it on the Simpsons before…

Speaking of The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T, the new broadway musical version is supposed to open in September (with Jim Dale as Dr. Terwilliker).
