Hit or Miss

Finally saw the Lord of the Rings today. Meh. I never even managed to read through The Hobbit. Still, the film was engaging and didn’t seem like 3 hours.

I like sci-fi, but I’ve never been the biggest fan of fantasy. Still, I wouldn’t mind seeing a film version of the one series I enjoyed reading, David Eddings’ The Belgariad.

Speaking of sci-fi, the preview for The Time Machine was pretty cool. Any trailer for a film that works in an Andrew Lloyd Weber joke is okay with me, even if it’s delivered by the obnoxious Orlando Jones.

i would love to see the belgariad transferred to the screen. i think i’ve read the series about 16 times – is that too much?

My god, Matt. What were you reading when you were 12 if it wasn’t The Lord of the Rings? And The Belgariad??? You make me cry very sad tears.

I was in 6th grade when I was 12, and I think that was when I read the entire output of Agatha Christie (mystery fiction is still my genre of choice). And are you showing disdain for “The Belgariad?”

Hmph. I read all of Agatha Christie as well, but I still had time for my precious Hobbits. Of course, my favorite series at that time was probably the Foundation Trilogy, which has held up about as well as your beloved Belgariad, I’m sure.

Anytime a film goes past two hours with no intermission, I wonder when the ship is going to sink. Down with movies long movies with no intermission. Sorry. Off topic.
