Librarians Adjust Image in an Effort to Fill Jobs Libraries across the country face difficulties as a generation of librarians is set to retire with few new graduates to take their place (via librarian.net).

Sometimes I feel a little guilty having made the decision not to be a librarian after finishing both my Masters and Specialist degree in Library Science (and paying all that tuition money). It has nothing to do with the whole “librarian image,” goodness knows I can be a geek on my own, thank you very much. I’m just the type of person who likes to help others and I decided to become a Hall Director instead (a field that is also facing a shortage of qualified candidates nationwide), and I still get the chance to preach information literacy to my students, being in an academic setting.
