Moulin Rouge

Hit or Miss

Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge. The long abourning Nicole Kidman musical is finally on target to hit theatres (June 1) and the trailer is now online. I’m a fan of any movie that tries to resurrect the musical genre, but anacronistic music-hall renditions of “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” and “Roxanne” are a bit weird and scary. Still, the “look” of the film (at least from the trailer) brings to mind “The Matrix” set in 18th-century Paris, so it’ll be working checking out when it hits the street.

That is, if it comes to my piddly 3 screen movie theatre (which, in a bizarre pre-Oscar night blaze of culture never before seen in this town, is actually showing Traffic, Chocolat, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon all in the same weekend).

Crouching Dragon, Hidden Tiger? Hmmm, that’s a new one … 🙂
