Bands on the Run
Bands on the Run. In my opinion, the most promising new reality show coming up is VH1’s Bands on the Run, which pits 4 bands against each other as they crisscross the country playing gigs. What should make this cool (or a colossal flop) is that the show just “doesn’t just take people who don’t know each other and make them work or live together in a contrived way — these four bands come as existing groups, complete with history and baggage and love and hate.”
Of course, Boot Camp on Fox might be a lot of fun too (well, at least to satisfy my uniform fetish).
But the real find on TV now is MTV’s Kathy’s So-Called Reality, a psuedo talkshow hosted by Kathy Griffin, which covers the whole reality show phenomenon. Yesterday’s episode was a special awards show — the “Realies” (the sexy Jim, from ABC’s The Mole, won the viewers’ favorite overall contestant award).
I wonder how long it will be before there’s an actual serious awards show for reality TV?
