Hit or Miss

Salon on the usability of the Palm Beach Ballot. I wondered when somebody would start quoting the experts like Jakob Nielsen and Dan Bricklin.

I’ve seen the ballot. Yes, it was poorly designed… but that can’t be the issue. Most people’s ballots are poorly designed (and the assertion made in the article by Scott Rosenberg that 5-10% margins are often the difference between winning and loosing is WAY off; this election is anomolous), that’s why everyone gets a peek at the ballots before the polling day.

No. The issue is whether we’re going to dick with democracy to get “our guy” (which ever lesser you choose) in. We have proceedures in place to address the problems, and so far they’re doing them… but when it’s over and done with, the loosing candidate needs to step aside for the health of the nation.

What scares me is how Gore’s camp is making inuendo that they won’t go quietly.

Anyway… back to the useability stuff: the time to address the bad ballots was at the polling place. The time has passed. Get over it… do better in four years.

Okay. That sounded WAY too angry… sorry. Just want it to be over.
