Chicago
I caught the matinee performance of the musical Chicago at the IU Auditorium this afternoon. Leads Belle Calloway & Donna Marie Asbury were fantastic as the two female murderers. The pit (well, band since they were onstage and not in the pit) were tight and hot – some really great brass playing. Ray Bokhour as Amos stole the show for me – I knew Chicago would be funny, but I didn’t realize how sad and touching it would be as well.
CHICAGO remains my favorite show on Broadway–I have seen it 12 times now. You saw a really phenomenal cast, and I’m glad you enjoyed the show so much. Donna Marie is one of the most incredible performers I’ve ever seen. Check out her website (www.geocities.com/donnamarieasbury) and mine too!!
